Film diary day 1 part 2

On our first day of filming, two of the three characters are talking about where they are going to go. The place described in the scene is where the main setting of the film will occur.

Filming diary day 1

On our first day of filming we used a few camera tricks to show the characters and to show the audience what they look like and how they will act.

Sound track for our film

my group and i have concluded that this piece of non copyright music is fitting and most appropriate for our opening two minutes as it builds tension and creates suspense for the audience. as our genre is horror, is is a vital part of the construction of our film as all good horrors have an enticing beginning.

Women in black opening analysis

The women in black opening

In the opening there are 3 young girls  which i wank overplaying with creepy looking dolls, there is slow nerve tingling music over the top so you can tell the genre is going to be a horror. The 3 girls are wearing dresses that look quite raged with adds wonder and tension to the scene of why it’s like that. They are in a house that looks much worn down and has a scary look about it. As the scene progresses the girls drop their dolls and start walking to the window with close up shots of the dolls being crushed under their feet which adds to the effect. At this point the music pace increases which creates atmosphere in the audience. We are then left with the girls that jump out the window, this makes the audience wonder throughout the film about why it happened and what it means to the plot. There isn’t any dialogue apart from a scream after the girls have jumped out the window which seems like it would have been from their mother. After this we are left with an over the shoulder shot of a black figure in the room which seems to be the cause of all the mystery. The over the shoulder shot is good as it means the audience knows there is something horrible there but can’t quite see it so they want to find out what it is.
